Green Connect is proud to be able to offer locally produced, chemical-free, sustainable pork and lamb from our farm in Warrawong.
We raise our pigs and lambs on our permaculture farm in Warrawong, where they can move about freely in the different areas of our farm and feast on leftover fruit and vegetables. Our pigs and sheep are rotated so they always have fresh pasture. They live in the sunshine, roll in mud, and act like animals. In line with our mission for sustainability, their addition gives us the capacity to convert food waste into meat.
We believe that animals can play an important part in a permaculture setting, and by us having our animals on the farm, it not only creates more paid work for our staff but also gives our community an ethical, free-range option when buying meat, supporting the local community.
For fresh pork: prepay and pick up from Cleaver and Co’s Craft Butchery between Monday 25th – Friday 29th of January 2021.
If you’re interested in Frozen lamb and pork, we will release any extra cuts for order here.
How big is a 10kg mixed pack ?
A 10kg pack fits in 25 cubic centimetres – about a third of a freezer compartment of an average household fridge-freezer.
What cuts of meat will I get?
Each package will include a pork roast and mince as well as one or more of the following cuts:
- Pork Neck
- Pork Shoulder
- Chump roast
- Spare Ribs
- Pork Belly
- Pork Bones
- Stock pack with bones and trotters.
Can I choose specific cuts?
Unfortunately not. Our animals have only so many sections that can be made into specific cuts. We want to make sure that the whole animal is appreciated and nothing is wasted so we only sell mixed packs. It also means the different cuts can be shared between all of our customers.
Is it free-range?
Yes! Our pigs were raised on our permaculture farm in Warrawong, we move them around different areas of the farm so they can feast on leftover fruit, vegetables and plants – which also helps us to cultivate the soil.
When and where do I pick up from?
Pick up from Cleaver and Co Craft Butchery, by Fri 29th of January 2021
2/5 Murphy Avenue, Gwynneville
Do I need to pre-pay?
How is meat priced?
Due to the drought, the price of grain has gone up significantly and therefore we have had to increase our prices slightly.
The price is $24/kg for all meat cuts. Most of our packs include a stock pack that includes either bones, trotters or skin, and these are priced at $10/kg.
We are a Not-for-Profit organisation wanting to provide fair food (by which we mean it is good for the people who grow it: they are paid at award rates and aren’t working with chemicals, good for the people who eat it, and good for the planet), so the price of the meat is based on what it costs us. We rely on the community to buy our products, so please spread the word!
