HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Green Connect achieves its impact through it’s five business units.
Green Connect Farm
GOOD FOR YOU AND GOOD FOR THE PLANET
We grow and sell food from out 11-acre urban permaculture farm in Warrawong NSW. Food that is good for those who grow it (fair wages and good jobs), those who eat it (healthy and organic) and good for the planet (sustainable and chemical-free).
Op shops
Giving used goods a second life
We resell donated goods to keep them out of landfill. All proceeds are invested back in the Wollongong community by creating jobs for young people and former refugees in industries that help the planet and the community. We also provide volunteering opportunities for people who want skills, experience and confidence in the workplace.
Staffing Solutions
We employ young people and former refugees
We give people who are often excluded from the workforce, particularly former refugees and young people, employment experience and support. From new staff appointments, to long term projects and few hour jobs, we strive to place the right staff in your workplace. To do this we make sure we understand your needs and up-skill and support staff in this context.
Zero waste Services
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
Green Connect helps schools, events and organisations to be more sustainable and reduce waste to landfill, with the aim of producing zero waste. We have been working with event organisers, schools, councils and businesses since 2011. Our Zero Waste team are experienced in undertaking waste audits and creating waste management plans, providing waste education and assisting events on their journey towards zero waste.
Gardening and Landscaping Services
Eco-friendly and sustainable
Green Connect runs one of the biggest urban permaculture farms in the world. As well as regenerating the land and growing great food, it provides a valuable training ground for young people and former refugees in gardening and landscaping. From preparing soil to planting, mulching, pruning and shaping gardens, our work is done in a way that respects and benefits both people and planet.
OUR STORY
In January 2011 a group of people got together to solve two of the biggest problems in our region: unemployment and waste.
Just down the road, another group of people got together to solve the unsustainable food system.
The groups merged to become Green Connect and in the ten years since, a series of smart, capable, motivated people have each added their skills, knowledge and effort to create jobs that care for people and planet.
OUR PROJECTS
We work with and within our community and connect with others to create and grow our work.
