What we do

Green Connect is a not-for-profit social enterprise that employs young people and former refugees in jobs that help the planet and the community – reducing waste and growing fair food.

Green Connect runs four business units:

THE FARM

We grow and sell food from our 11-acre urban farm in Warrawong NSW. Food that is good for those who grow it (fair wages and good jobs), those who eat it (healthy and organic) and good for the planet (sustainable and organically grown).

OP SHOPS

We resell donated goods to keep them out of landfill. All proceeds are invested back in the Wollongong community by creating jobs for young people and former refugees in industries that help the planet and the community.

STAFFING SOLUTIONS

We give people who are often excluded from the workforce, particularly former refugees and young people, employment experience and support. From new staff appointments, to long term projects and few hour jobs, we strive to place the right staff in your workplace.

ZERO WASTE

Green Connect helps schools, events and organisations to be more sustainable and reduce waste to landfill, with the aim of producing zero waste. We have been working with event organisers, schools, councils and businesses since 2011.

Last year, Green Connect

Kept 143 tonnes of waste out of landfill

Grew and distributed 34,859 kgs of fair food

Provided 138 employment opportunities

Community Resources: jobs that care for people and planet

Green Connect is part of Community Resources. Community Resources employs more than 500 people across Australia in jobs that care for people and planet, keeping waste out of landfill, growing and distributing fair food, and providing community service to those who need it most. Green Connect is one of its three social enterprises.
