FAQ
What is farm blitz?
A farm blitz is a day to invite the community onto the farm to volunteer and help out. The idea is that many hands make light work, so the community gets an opportunity to spend time on our lovely 11-acre farm and we get help with some of the work that needs to be done.
Who is welcome to attend?
We have work at different ability levels, from digging, planting seeds and as always we have plenty of weeding to do. So, everyone is welcome, including people with small children.
What will people learn from it?
People can learn how to dig a bed, what crops we are planting now, how to sow seeds, how to identify invasive weeds and they will have the opportunity to ask our farm staff any questions they may have about their own gardens.
Why is this event important for the community?
It’s an opportunity for the community to be involved in an award-winning urban farm, to spend time in nature and learn more about how their food is grown.
Who will be running the event?
The Green Connect Farm team will be running the event, with our Farm Manager Emily Henderson, Farm Coordinator Rod Logan, Fair Food Coordinator Lindsay Burlton and our Activity Coordinator Quill Darby leading the day.
What will be happening on the day?
The farm blitz is from 9am to 12pm with a BYO barbeque at the end. There will be some play areas set up for younger children. We look forward to seeing everyone on the farm.
