SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS

A visit to the Green Connect farm will allow students to connect their classroom learning to a real-world farm environment. Tours offer students a unique opportunity for outdoor learning immersed in nature. As well as hands-on engagement with the curriculum they will have the opportunity to experience a working farm, learn about their environment and meet and feed our chickens, goats, sheep and pigs.

Potential nature activities include making a worm farm, compost, seed starter packs, bee baths, or flower crowns, or going on a bug hunt, scavenger hunt or native rainforest walk. Farm activities (best for ages 9+) give kids the chance to get involved with our farm crew and might involve caring for animals, planting seedlings, working in our market gardens to mulch, add compost to, or water crops, or other activities as appropriate for the season and weather.  Available activities will be influenced by the age of the children in your group, the season and weather, and what other projects are happening on the farm.

REFUND POLICY:

  • Charge is fully refundable or transferable up to 7 days before the excursion date and time.
  • Payment is transferable up to 3 days before the tour date and time.
  • Payment is not transferable or refundable within 3 days of the tour date and time, unless under exceptional circumstances.
  • If Green Connect must cancel or postpone for any reason, including extreme weather conditions, we will transfer your booking or issue a full refund. We do not cancel activities due to rain, however we may postpone tours due to significant weather events that present safety risks.

PLEASE READ OUR ESSENTIAL INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING

  • The site is a working farm and visitors must participate in a safety briefing before entering. We ask all tour participants to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of their tour to ensure we start on time.
  • The terrain at the farm is particularly steep and slippery in parts. Though we do take it slowly, the tour involves a moderately strenuous walk and is not accessible for prams, wheelchairs, or people with moderate mobility issues. See the video below to ensure you will be able to walk the site.
  • Plants love rain and so do we! We don’t cancel tours in wet weather unless there is a dangerous storm. Rain (and mud!) is all part of the fun.
  • Allergen advice: Our farm is home to domestic animals as well as bees, wasps, and macadamia trees. Please pack an EpiPen if allergic and keep it with you at all times.
  • To ensure compliance with current NSW Government restrictions, we have put in place a range of measures to keep tour participants safe. If you have visited a COVID-19 hotspot within 14 days of your tour or if you come down with cold or flu-like symptoms, we will ask you to contact us and stay home.

All tour participants must:

  • Wear enclosed shoes or boots (sorry no thongs or sandals allowed) and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants are recommended.
  • Bring a hat and sunscreen or rain gear, depending on the weather forecast.
  • Bring a water bottle pre-filled with water.
