Discovering New and Exciting Things
One of the pieces of feedback we love hearing from our community, is how our veg boxes introduce people to veggies that they have never seen or tasted before. We have even had customers report that they’ve found their new favorite veggie through our veg boxes!
This week we’re featuring Perilla in our box, an herb that is not commonly heard of in Australia. Perilla is often described as a mint but, while it does have the freshness of a mint, it’s also packed with an intense flavor similar to an Asian Basil. It’s commonly used in South East Asian cuisine, and is famously used in Vietnamese rice paper rolls.
Through our veggie boxes, we want to create an excitement around eating seasonally, and build a supportive community that can help to grow a fair food culture. That’s why we’re looking forward to having you, our loyal supporters, join us for a morning tea at our new farm hub on the morning of Saturday, March 12. For now this is still just a ‘save the date’ reminder and we will have booking options closer so that we can ensure we are hosting a safe event during COVID-19.
We look forward to hanging out with you!

What’s that in my box: Chinese cabbage is also commonly referred to as Napa cabbage and is the star vegetable in Korean kimchi. This vegetable goes great in coleslaw and generally makes for a softer and milder cabbage than the traditional green or red cabbage. If you’re interested in making kimchi with this cabbage, the result is a delicious condiment/side full of probiotics which help to rebalance our digestive system and make us feel fresher.
