Green Connect employs young people and former refugees to do work that helps the planet and the community. We run an 11-acre permaculture farm in Warrawong and an op shop in Bellambi, as well as offering zero waste services and labour hire to local businesses, schools, councils and events. Please explore our website for more information.
After almost 9 years working in sustainability, almost 7 years at the Green Connect farm, and now with an op shop, we are often approached to share what we know and there is demand for hands-on activities that help people to learn more and live more sustainably. We have been piloting some activities including farm tours, farm experiences for kids, beekeeping workshops and sustainable fashion workshops. Schools and families have been particularly interested in these activities and are asking us to do more.
We are employing an Activity Coordinator (or two) to take this work to the next level.
About the role
You will be responsible for coordinating a range of activities at the farm and the op shop, ensuring the right people and resources are in place for a meaningful and engaging experience, promoting the activities and managing bookings, coordinating curriculum development (please note you do not have to develop the curriculum yourself but will need to recruit and coordinate others to do so) and evaluation, and constantly learning from what we do and improving on it.
You will work within a team that is passionate about people and the planet, and strives to create more jobs, reduce waste, grow fair food and connect the community.
This is a part-time position, 22.5 hours per week for 12 months, and could be job-shared between two people (e.g. one Activity Coordinator for the farm and another for the op shop; or one person developing and coordinating the activities and the other person managing bookings and providing customer service).
Applications for this role closed at 8am on Friday 25 October 2019. We look forward to welcoming a new team member in the coming weeks.
