Bringing food to the community
When the rest of the work takes a holiday, vegetables don’t stop growing, people don’t stop eating, and animals don’t stop being cared for.
This is one of the many reasons that farming has always been an incredibly relentless and thankless vocation, and probably one of the many reasons that our country’s farming population is dwindling, at a time when the average age of farmers, and the instances of reported mental health issues among farming populations are skyrocketing.
At Green Connect, we’re trying this: Firstly, by inspiring and empowering a younger generation and newly arrived refugees with heaps of passion and enthusiasm to get into this space. Secondly, by pricing our food at a price that is fair for the farmers. This means that our staff get to take holidays, and we can afford to pay public holiday rates when work needs to be done on a public holiday, as it did last Monday.
Thank you to Shay and Eh Moo who came in on the public holiday, to harvest last week’s veggies and care for our animals, and thank you to Isabel, who worked on Monday – processing all our customer orders and ensuring everything was in place for the week’s packing and delivery.
And a big thank you to you: our incredible customers. By choosing to source your food from Green Connect, you’re supporting a fair wage for the people who grow the food, and a fairer food system overall.
Enjoy
