Welcome Robert
I am thrilled to have joined the team at Green Connect, a non-profit social enterprise, a business that balances profit with purpose.
Traditional non-profits depend on grants, government funding, and philanthropy. Social enterprises generate a large percentage of their income through business. On our farm, and through our other business arms including Gardening & Landscaping, Zero Waste, Staffing Solutions and our Op Shops, we help young people, former refugees and, increasingly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people find their way into meaningful employment.
I used to have my own organic vegetable farm, so I know how much work goes into producing and packaging food. I appreciate the passion, effort, and care that the farm team puts into the boxes and, as a new veg box customer myself, I’ve been loving the quality and variety of the produce.
What makes getting a veg box from Green Connect different and special is that, not only do you get fresh, healthy, locally grown food, but you are helping people and the planet. Thank you for being a part of our community and contributing to the work we do here at Green Connect.

Note: We sometimes need to make changes to what we pack in your veg box based on the quantity or quality of produce that we can harvest and source. If you have any questions about what is in your box, don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
Feature Veg: Ginger
Ginger, a spice that comes from the rhizome of the ginger plant, is a zingy, spicy and sweet flavour to a range of savoury and sweet dishes and drinks. Fresh ginger root is a common addition to Carribean, Asian and Indian dishes; dried ground ginger, which is more mellow in flavour, is often used in western baking. Store your ginger root in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or tightly wrapped in the freezer for up to 3 months. The skin, particularly if it is mature and thick, can be peeled before use, but this isn’t required. Try adding your ginger to a soup or stir fry, cooking it with fish or vegetables, boiling it in a tea, or adding it to a sweet dessert.
