Here’s some of the latest news from Green Connect…

We’re hiring an Activity Coordinator

We have been piloting farm tours, workshops and experiences over the last few months and they are proving very popular. Luckily, we have secured some funding to ramp these up and now we need a superstar to join our team as Activity Coordinator. If you or someone you know think you can do amazing things for the community and the planet by coordinating a range of events at Green Connect, particularly for children and families, please head to  https://green-connect.com.au/were-hiring-an-activity-coordinator/ for more information and to apply.

We may also need some Facilitators and/or Curriculum Developers. Click here for more information and to let us know if you’re interested.

Volunteers needed at the Op Shop

We are very appreciative of the community support for Green Connect through customers and donations of high quality items for the op shop. We’re in need of some more help sorting donations in the warehouse and also keeping our shop running. If you’re interested in this or other volunteer opportunities, head to https://green-connect.com.au/volunteer-with-green-connect/ or contact our new Support Worker, Annie Burbrook, at [email protected].

Meeting the Governor-General

Last week Wollongong City Council had the honour of hosting the Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency David Hurley and his incredible wife, Her Excellency Linda Hurley for a meeting about sustainability. It was a great showcase of the work WCC is doing to reduce waste, reduce carbon emissions, and engage the community to live, work and play more sustainably. We were delighted to be a part of the meeting and had a great discussion with Their Excellencies about how we’re tackling waste at music festivals and other major events. More about that meeting here.

Yours & Owls – and event season ahead

Speaking of music festivals, the Yours & Owls Festival was held over the long weekend and is really leading the way in sustainable events. We’re proud to manage the waste for Yours & Owls and their festival kicks off the busy summer event season for us. Lots more great work to be done greening the music festival industry over the next few months!
